This is another mixed media painting from ‘The World of the Arch-Ah-Chi-Nas’ series. This one is titled ‘The Freespirit: Om/Sound Arch-Ah-Chi-Na’. This series consists of nine Arch-Ah-Chi-Nas (so far) depicting universal archetypes such as The Sage. Each of these archetypes correlates with a basic piece of physics such as Gravity, these in turn are encased in the container of a Kachina figure.
In Hopi mythology all things, everything, death, birth, objects, plants, animals, elements, etc have two forms. One form is the visible object or manifestation, the second form is the spirit or energetic counterpart. Kachinas are the containers for the spirit form.
I chose a marriage of archetypes, physics and kachinas because one of the underlying themes in my artwork has been to ‘make the invisible visible’. In the process of doing this I hope people come away with something educational or inspirational. It can be easy to forget how amazing life really is. When things normally unseen such as physics or archetypes find a place in our waking conscious mind we can again be reminded of the magic within and around us.
